Dallastown, PA — The much anticipated second release of Wyndridge Farm Brewing’s The Hunt Series has arrived. Although, a seasonal offering Wyndridge did not follow the rest of the craft beverage market and instead chose a more creative approach and tied it to their logo – a scarf wearing fox – and called it “ The Hunt Series.” This particular series is being served from May – July and features a Mosaic Rye Ale and Pear Cider.
“The first release of The Hunt Series was a big win for our brand,” said Steve Groff, owner. He continued, “the new packaging and the great liquid inside made for a powerful combination in the market. We were fortunate to sell out and needed to increase production of the first quarter products our Double IPA and Dark Rye Barrel Cider. We anticipate a great reception to these two exciting new liquids!”
According to Head Brewer, Pete Koelsch, the Mosaic Rye is the perfect beer for spring. He explained, “I looked to rye malt to give the beer a nice backbone and a light peppery finish. I double dry hopped the beer with two of my favorite hops, Mosaic and Citra which brought in refreshing juicy and citrusy flavors. The combination of the hops with the rye malt created a beer that pairs perfectly with grilled chicken, pheasant or pork. This is a beer that is drinkable and refreshing enough for enjoying on your deck on a hot day, but flavorful enough to accompany grilled foods on a cool night.
Scott Topel, Wyndridge’s Cider Master worked with a blend of Bartlett and Bosc pears giving the cider a softer acidity, yet full pear flavor. The result was a nice sessionable cider with a pronounced pear character. “This is clearly a pear cider,” said Topel. “I was able to coax a little more tartness without obscuring the pear flavors by blending a higher acid blend of Stayman Winesap, York Imperial and Rome dry cider post fermentation,” he added. Topel suggests pairing with seafood first and foremost, but noted that this is a versatile cider and works well with sweet & sour pork, mild curries and semi-hard cheeses like Gruyère, Beaufort and Appenzeller.
