AUSTIN, Texas – Uncle Billy’s Brewery & Smokehouse is releasing its Resilience Butte County Proud IPA on Resilience Night, Thursday, Dec. 20. It was brewed collaboratively with Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. as a fundraiser to in support those affected by the Camp Fire in California. Uncle Billy’s is one of more than 1,400 breweries participating nation-wide and will donate proceeds from the sale of Resilience Butte County Proud IPA will go to the Sierra Nevada Camp Fire Relief Fund to help the victims of the wild fire that devastated the town of Paradise, Calif.
Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., a well-known brewery in Chico, Calif. employs some of the victims of the Camp Fire. The Sierra Nevada Brewery was spared, but the destruction of the neighboring communities from the Camp Fire spurred the brewery to action. Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. created a recipe, shared it with breweries all over the country, and brewed a batch to sell 100 percent for charity. They also negotiated with suppliers to help reduce ingredient costs, and, in many cases, to offer the ingredients completely free of charge.
“We jumped at the chance to participate in this fundraising effort,” said Uncle Billy’s Head Brewer, Stephen Wagner. “With so many brewers across the country providing their time, talents and taprooms for the same goal of raising funds for relief efforts, we can make a tremendous impact. I love being part of a community of craft brewers who genuinely want to help other people. We’re inviting everyone to join our release night on December 20 to help raise money for this important cause.”
Lieutenant Bryan Knox, an Austin area firefighter and a regular at Uncle Billy’s, volunteered his time to roll up his sleeves to help brew Resilience Butte County Proud IPA. Uncle Billy’s is inviting his fellow Austin firefighters, first responders and firefighters who traveled to fight the fires in California to be VIPs at our Resilience Night.
Resilience Butte County Proud IPA is true-to-style for Sierra Nevada, with 6.5 percent ABV, 95 IBU, with piney hop, grapefruit, and floral flavors derived from healthy doses of Centennial and Cascade hops. It will be available on draft at Uncle Billy’s while supplies last.
