The Reyes Beer Division is adding to its California map with the planned acquisition of Columbia Distributing’s business in Northern California, the companies announced this evening.
The transaction is expected to close June 10 and will add 1,350 customers and about 4 million cases of offerings from Constellation Brands, Molson Coors, Lagunitas, Mark Anthony Brands (White Claw, Mike’s), Sierra Nevada, Boston Beer (Truly, Samuel Adams, Twisted Tea, Dogfish Head), Heineken, Diageo and a portfolio of other craft beer brands. The companies stressed that “the transaction is limited to Columbia Distributing’s Northern California territory.”
“We are also very proud of the business we have built in Sonoma and Marin counties over the last several years, but as we continue to focus on our long-term strategy of aggressive organic growth, strategic partnerships and significant acquisitions, California does not fit into that strategy,” Columbia Distributing CEO Chris Steffanci said in a press release.
Reyes will fold Columbia’s business in Sonoma and Marin counties into its Golden Brands operations, which sells and distributes more than 38 million cases annually to 16,200 customers.
“California is a very important piece of our business and we’ve seen tremendous growth in the market,” Reyes Beer Division CEO Tom Day said in the release. “We are uniquely positioned for this opportunity, with more than 3,500 employees statewide and investments of millions of dollars in 25 facilities. This new addition is another great example of our long-standing commitment to strengthening the California beer market.”
“Columbia Distributing has built a thriving business in Santa Rosa over the past five years, which sets us up for great success,” Tom Reyes, President of Reyes Beer Division West, added. “We are thrilled to continue offering unparalleled customer service and the best brand portfolio to our new customers and consumers alike.”
