Middlebury, Vermont – Otter Creek Brewing invites you to take a pull from one of their brand new, year-round brews.
Backseat Berner IPA is a juicy exploration of American hops that’s loaded with citrus, pine and grapefruit notes. At 7.0% ABV and 68 IBU, Backseat Berner is the first year-round IPA from the Middlebury brewers.
“We packed the chambers tight with hops,” said OCB brewmaster Mike Gerhart. “If you can find a way to put more hops into a brew, then we want to hear from you.”
Gerhart’s 150 lb Bernese mountain dog, Oslo, served as the inspiration for the new-look package design. According to the label, Backseat Berner, is “sure to be your everyday companion.”
Not to be outdone, Over Easy, is a so called “chronically crushable” ale that is filled with citrus and floral hop flavors. According to Gerhart, Over Easy clocks in at 40 IBU and “turns over easy without exhausting the palate.”
On the heels of a series of successful seasonal releases, these brand new, hop-soaked treats represent a change in Otter Creek’s year-round portfolio as production – and the collective consumer palate – shifts away from their stalwart line up of Copper Ale, Black IPA and Hop Session.
“We brew beer for the people,” said Gerhart. “We want to make beers that people want in their hands, in their coolers, at their parties, at their events, taking them to festivals and just having a good time with them.”
These new brews are a testament to the talented team of brewers that Gerhart has assembled. Everything from the recipe to the labels is a product of the collective creative energy of the brewery, he said.
“Otter Creek Brewing and Mike Gerhart have been the best kept secrets in the Vermont craft scene for years,” declared Jed Nelson, marketing director at Otter Creek Brewing. “We expect that to change with the release of these two new epic brews.”
Backseat Berner and Over Easy will both be available in Vermont by late March and elsewhere in early April.
