MIAMI— J. Wakefield Brewing, Wynwood’s only independently-owned craft brewery, is joining over 1,200 craft breweries nationwide to brew Camp Fire Resilience Butte County Proud IPA, proceeds from the sale of which will benefit victims of Camp Fire, California’s deadliest and most destructive wildfire of all time. The initiative is being spear-headed by Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., which is based in Chico, California, close to the area devastated by the wildfire last month.
The beer will be brewed using a single recipe. All profits from sales will go directly to the Camp Fire Relief Fund, a nonprofit created by Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.
“The craft beer industry has a long history of helping people when tragedy strikes. A few years ago when Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, we brewed a beer called Coqui, to raise money for relief efforts on the island. We’ve also canned purified water after hurricanes here in Florida and elsewhere. Lending a hand is part of who we are as an industry, as a company and as individuals,” said Johnathan Wakefield, JWB founder and owner.
Resilience IPA will be available in 4-packs of 16-ounce cans, for $13, in mid-January.
