FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale-based investment banking firm, Farlie Turner & Co., is pleased to announce that it served as an advisor to Storied Craft Breweries, LLC (“SCB”) on its investment in Deep Ellum Brewing. In a transaction initiated by Farlie Turner that closed on December 6, SCB acquired a majority interest in Deep Ellum, one of Texas’ fastest-growing craft breweries, and the 4th largest independently-owned brewery in the state. The transaction was led by Craig Farlie, a Managing Director at Farlie Turner, in addition to Daniel Vetrano. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Based in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, Deep Ellum Brewing is on track to produce more than 30,000 barrels of beer in 2016. The brewery, founded by John Reardon in November of 2011, is well known in its home state for its flagship Dallas Blonde Ale and Deep Ellum IPA, among its portfolio of award-winning beers. The transaction provided Reardon with the ability to streamline the company’s capital structure through a buyout of several former partners, increase his own equity stake in the business, and gain access to growth capital for future expansion.
SCB was introduced to Deep Ellum by Craig Farlie, and Reardon stressed that the introduction, and the resulting transaction, was a very fluid process. “I met Craig a couple years back and we’d always meet for a beer whenever we found ourselves in the same city. Then, one day, he called me and said he had some people he’d like me to meet. I guess the rest is history,” stated Reardon.
