August Schell Medals at U.S. Open Beer Championship

New Ulm, MN. – The August Schell Brewing Co. (www.schellsbrewery.com), America’s second-oldest, family-owned brewery, received international recognition at the 2014 U.S. Open Beer Championship by winning the silver medal in the American Lager/Pilsner category for its Grain Belt Premium.

Brewers from around the world submitted more than 3,000 beers and ciders for competition in 81 separate categories at the Atlanta, GA based event. Judged by a blind panel, the U.S. Open Beer Championship is notable as the only brewing competition that allows professional breweries and award-winning home-brewers to compete side-by-side.

Prior honors received by Grain Belt Premium include a gold medal in the American Lager category at 1994 Great American Beer Festival.
