Madison, WI — Regional craft brewery Ale Asylum has added a new release and style to their seasonal beer portfolio: 12 oz. Curl. This is their first time producing a Pilsner and their second packaged lager.
The brewery has received frequent customer requests to produce a Pilsner but was not able to allocate the time and tank space needed to fit one into their seasonal distribution portfolio. With the consistent requests and renewed public fervor for the Pilsner style they made sure to make room for one this year.
“Over the last couple decades, excitement among brewers about a beer style has been a good indicator that a lot of beer drinkers will crave it within a couple of years,” said Ale Asylum’s Quality Control Manager Joe Walts. “Our Brewmaster Dean Coffey has wanted to brew a Pilsner for a number of years simply so he could enjoy it in the Tasting Room, but the sheer number of craft beer drinkers reaffirming their love of full-flavored Pilsners told us the time was right to brew one for distribution.”
Ale Asylum Co-Founder Otto Dilba designed the logo to have a visual feel similar to the beer he watched his father drink (and Otto may or may not have snuck from the fridge) while growing up in northern Wisconsin. The “12 oz. Curl” idiom is commonly used in the college scene that jokingly refers to a can of beer being useful as a weightlifting exercise. It is no accident that the beer will be available on draft and in bottles during the NCAA college basketball tournament, March Madness.
12 oz. Curl joins Tripel Nova and Ballistic as current seasonal offerings and will be available at craft beer watering holes and retail outlets through the end of April.
