CHARLOTTE, N.C. – This Saturday from 1-10pm The Unknown Brewing company will be having their annual Anniversary music festival (their biggest event of the year) and for the first time ever….it is free. The brewery decided to make the event free this year to allow as many people as possible to see their incredible renovations. Over the past 6 months, they have completely redone their taproom to include a 360-degree bar, all new furniture, multiple roll-up garage doors, a completely new layout and a rooftop bar with private event space. The rooftop bar has a beautiful view of the city skyline that definitely sets it apart.
The 4.5ish Funk Fest will showcase live music performances from Empire Strikes Brass, Bubonik Funk, Georgia Soul Council and The Up and Up. This celebration will also be the release of the 4.5ish Anniversary Ale. Unknown brewed half of this beer 2 years ago and aged/soured it in french oak barrels. The other half was open fermented with brettanomyces (clausenii) and then both batches were blended together and fermented with beautiful green figs. Unknown always try to innovate and create something extraordinary and this year is no exception.
“We love this city. This is our home. We’re born and raised here,” said Scotty Kent, Marketing Director at Unknown Brewing. “So whether it’s the Brewers Charity Championship, the Panthers sendoff, the South End mural project, the “Buzzed City” collaboration beer with Bring Back the Buzz, or our beer dedicated to The Thirsty Beaver, we’re all about pushing and promoting the Charlotte culture.”
That’s why the team at Unknown decided it was time to renovate the taproom and add a rooftop bar. “Here at the Unknown, we are constantly looking to innovate and create,” said Kent. “So when it came to our renovations, we wanted to do right by our patrons. We heard what they wanted, and we responded.”
