Stratford, CT — Two Roads Brewing of Stratford, CT won 14 medals at The Great International Beer Festival in Providence, RI on October 24th.
“It’s extremely gratifying for our brewery to have won 14 medals,” said Two Roads Brewing Company Brewmaster Phil Markowski. “I am very proud of our Brewing and Quality Assurance teams. We have a group of dedicated and talented people on staff at Two Roads and they are the ones who make this happen, day in and day out.”
Two Roads won nine gold medals. Honeyspot Road White IPA won gold in the American Wheat category while No Limits Hef won gold in the German Wheat category. Route of All Evil Black Ale won gold in the Black IPA category and Igor’s Dream won gold in the Russian Imperial Stout category.
Two Roads sours won golds as well. Urban Funk Wild Ale took gold in the Wild/Sour category and Philsamic won for Flanders Red Ales. Both lambic categories were won by Two Roads with Kriek winning gold in Fruit Lambics and Gueuze winning gold in the Lambic category.
Workers Stomp Barrel-aged Saison won gold in the Saison category.
Ol’Factory Pilsner garnered silver in the Continental Pilsner category and Henry’s Farm Double Bock won silver in the Doppelbock category. Holiday Ale took silver for Biere de Garde.
Bronzes were awarded to Krazy Pucker for Berlinerweiss and Via Cordis won bronze for Belgian Blonde.
GIBF is judged differently than most competitions, which made the medals all the more special to Brewmaster Markowski.
“It is especially satisfying to know that the judges are all industry professionals, made up of primarily brewers but also writers and distributors. It is a peer review and it’s blind judging; no one knows whose beer they are drinking. There is no bias; the beer speaks for itself.”
