Stone Brewing Company chief commercial officer Dan Lamb will exit the company next month.
“In early March, I’ll be parting ways with Team Stone,” Lamb wrote in an email to staff Wednesday. “I wanted to share this news myself so I could sign off properly, given just how meaningful this job has been to me.”
The San Diego craft brewery is reorganizing its sales and marketing departments and the chief commercial officer will no longer exist in the new structure. Rather, the CCO duties will be split between a vice president of marketing and a senior vice president of sales; both positions will report to CEO Maria Stipp, who took over the leadership of the company in September 2020 after the departure of Dominic Engels in August.
“Currently, I have overseen SDC [Stone Distributing Company], national sales and marketing – a tall order!,” Lamb wrote. “Our new strategy will allow for focused leadership of each group individually. Neither of those roles is the right role for me, so I’m venturing out for something new.”
Stone has hired a not-yet-named marketing VP, who will start in early March.
“We can’t yet share her name with you, but when the time is right, we look forward to sharing what an amazing addition she’ll be,” Lamb wrote.
The senior vice president of sales will oversee Stone Distributing and the company’s national sales. The company is recruiting for the role.
“Countless thanks to Dan, who has been a huge asset to this team,” Stipp wrote in Lamb’s departure note. “As stated, he drove our innovation into a category that opened up doors for major growth.
“He’s overseen a world-class marketing team, the industry’s very best sales team and a distributor that’s competing head to head with the big guys,” she continued.
Lamb joined Stone in October 2018 after 13 years at Monster Energy, where his last role was senior vice president of global sales operations, according to his LinkedIn profile. His career also includes sales roles at Maletis Beverage, Widmer Brothers Brewing, Sound Distributing and E & J Gallo Winery.
