EVERETT, Mass. — Down The Road Beer Co. is pleased to announce the addition of John Thomas to its growing staff. Effective immediately, Thomas will serve as the company’s general manager, overseeing day to day operations of the production business as well as taproom, sales and marketing.
Thomas, an engineer by trade and Boston native, brings a wealth of experience running businesses big and small in roles ranging from founder to principal to president. Most immediately, he will focus on bolstering the company’s supply chain management to meet mounting distribution demand, as well as strategically fortifying the taproom infrastructure to ensure a world-class experience for every visitor who walks through the door.
“I’m excited to join Down The Road at such an important time for the company,” says Thomas. “And I’m confident my management experience at companies as diverse as Raytheon and Draper Laboratories will translate seamlessly to the many needs of a business as multi-departmental as this. When it comes right down to it, the business of beer is the business of science and logistics — my bread and butter.”
With a growing cadre of beers entering the market, as well as a burgeoning offering of taproom-only releases and a host of major events, Thomas enters the fray at a critical time in the company’s growth arch. As such, he will work full-time at the company’s Everett headquarters, interfacing regularly with all levels of the staff.
Thomas is happily married with four children – two sons and two daughters – aged 26, 24, 22 and 20, respectively. When he’s not buzzing around the brewery, he can be found expertly playing the piano, guitar or trombone, and singing bass in his church’s choir.
