LARKSPUR, Calif. — The Marin Brewing Company (The Brewco) will release its first Brut IPA today, Dom Marignon. Brut IPA is a new category of craft beer, the creation of which is credited to Kim Sturdavant, the current Brewmaster at Social Kitchen & Brewery in San Francisco, and a Marin Brewing Alumni.
Because Kim started his brewing career here, The BrewCo is particularly excited to introduce this type of beer to its patrons, in the brewery’s first interpretation of the Brut IPA style.
Brut IPAs are characterized by an extremely pale hue, a vibrant carbonation and super attenuation (little to no residual sugar). Dom Marignon is inspired by the flavors and qualities of sparkling white wines. The Brewco’s Brewmaster, Arne Johnson, describes his take on Brut IPA as having bread-like flavors that are derived from the use of low-color Maris Otter barley malt and malted wheat.
“The fruity flavors reminiscent of grapes and melons are achieved by the judicious use of Hallertau Blanc and Huell Melon hops,” Johnson said.
The BrewCo’s Dom Marignon is worthy of a special occasion, but you’ll want it to be your everyday brew!
7.0% ABV, 24 IBU’s.
