HARTFORD, Conn. — On November 29th, beloved Brooklyn band The Hold Steady begins Massive Nights, their run of four consecutive shows at the Brooklyn Bowl. In honor of, Hanging Hills Brewing Company brewed Massive Nights IPA to be released on November 29th at the Brooklyn Bowl and the Hartford, CT brewery.
The Connecticut microbrewery has long been a fan of American’s best bar band with a library card and so a collaboration in support of this run of shows is fitting. This is the second year in a row for the Hold Steady’s artist in residence extended performance at the Bowl and also that the ticket presale sold out immediately.
Taken right from the eponymous song title, Massive Nights is a 6.9% ABV hazy and fruity IPA hopped and then dry hopped with heavy handed additions of Citra and El Dorado. Massive Nights IPA packs waves of tropical and citrus goodness and a smooth mouthfeel from a wheat and oat heavy malt bill. Says founder Joe Ploof, “The Hold Steady is one of my favorite bands. Period. To brew a beer for them, to have a conversation with the band…all of this has left me gobsmacked. We can’t wait to share this with them and the folks at the show.”
Massive Nights IPA will be released on draft at the Brooklyn Bowl beginning on 11/29 and then at Brooklyn stalwart bars Lake St Bar, The Gate, and Mission Dolores. 4 pack of 16 oz cans will be sent to Brooklyn bottle shops Hops and Locks, St Gambrinus, Beer Karma and Beer Boutique and will also be available on 11/29. The only other place to get hands on Massive Nights as at Hanging Hills Brewing Company’s tasting room at 150 Ledyard St, Hartford, CT beginning 11/29.
