Brooklyn, NY – Coney Island Brewing Company announced today the expansion of its classic craft beers into the New England region. Fans in Connecticut and Rhode Island can now get a taste of the boardwalk with the bottle rollout of Mermaid Pilsner, Overpass IPA, Coney Island Lager and Freaktoberfest.
Each of Coney Island Brewery’s beers are inspired by the seaside boardwalk neighborhood of Coney Island and the surrounding Brooklyn borough.
- Mermaid Pilsner is a light-bodied, crisp-drinking, nicely hopped lager. A heavy-handed addition of rye malt adds a mild spiciness, which is balanced by a light, fruity, floral hop aroma, with an ABV of 5.2%. Mermaid Pilsner is the top selling craft pilsner in Metro New York.
- Overpass IPA is named in honor of the artists, musicians and renaissance souls that staked claim and built community Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass (D.U.M.B.O.). Overpass is a deep golden, richly aromatic IPA with a fresh bitterness and big, juicy citrus and tropical hop aromas, with an ABV of 6.2%.
- Coney Island Lager is a classic dry-hopped American lager. A complex malty backbone melds with expressive hop notes for a refreshingly balanced experience, with an ABV of 5.5%.
In addition to the three year-round offerings, Coney Island will also release a limited beer inspired by seasonal flavors.
- Freaktoberfest is a hauntingly complex, copper-hued pumpkin and espresso ale. Caramel aromas intermingle with hints of allspice and cinnamon. A roasted, rich body is highlighted by Brooklyn’s own Café Grumpy’s specially selected espresso beans and is finished with sweet pumpkin, with an ABV of 6.2%.
“We did a quiet rollout of Coney Island Mermaid Pilsner on draft only in Connecticut and Rhode Island at the start of the summer and the feedback since then has been fantastic,” said Chris Adams, Coney Island’s Brewery Operations Manager. “We’re excited to add Overpass IPA, Coney Island Lager and our seasonal offerings to our local portfolio, as well as the Mermaid Pilsner 6-packs, and trust that beer fans won’t be disappointed.
