WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — This May, Calicraft Brewing Company, known for making beer-wine hybrids, is releasing Rosé Ale in 6 pack cans. Rosé Ale is part of Calicraft’s California Sparkling Ales series, which are beers fermented with wine yeast with the intention of creating wine-like flavors, textures, and aromas. By fermenting with wine yeast, wine grapes, and fruits, Calicraft creates beverages that blur the line between beer and wine.
Rosé Ale is a new spin on rosé wine. Calicraft Rosé Ale gets it pink color and wine-like flavor from real wine grapes and real fruit. A unique blend of rosé wine yeast, rosé wine grapes, cherries and raspberries echo the flavors found in wine: bright red fruits, floral aromas, and a touch of tannin with a dry finish. Rosé Ale combines the flavor of wine with the freshness of cocktails and the drinkability of beer. When the beer was sampled at Calicraft’s Walnut Creek Taproom, drinkers couldn’t get enough.
“As brewers, we always ask ourselves, what if beer was created in California?” said Blaine Landberg, Founder and CEO of Calicraft. “We would be inspired by the people, places, and ingredients found in California. It only made sense to make beers with wine ingredients and from the perspective of wine – balanced flavors with a dry finish.”
Just like rosé wine, Rosé Ale pairs well with many different foods. Its bright fruit profile makes it a crowd pleaser while its dry, brut-like finish lends itself to food pairings. It is an obvious pairing with creamy cheeses but also has enough acidity to balance rich foods such as barbeque or burgers. Packaged in 6 pack cans, Rosé ale is a perfect compliment to a fancy dinner or a backyard barbeque. Rosé Ale is truly a drink for all occasions and seasons.
Founded in 2012 by Blaine Landberg, Calicraft takes inspiration from the ingredients, places and people of California. We strive to create products that combine innovation with purpose – products that push the boundaries of beer, wine, and spirits. Whether its using local ingredients such as anise hyssop and wine pomace, creative collaborations with restaurants like Chez Panisse and wine makers like Dashe Cellars, or developing a whole new category of beer – Calicraft seeks to answer the question: What if beer was created in California?
Calicraft Rosé Ale (6.5% ABV) is available in Northern California in 6-packs for a suggested retail price of $11.99 starting May 2018.
