Bloomfield, CT – Back East Brewery will again be offering Octoberfest, its fall seasonal, but for the first time this beer will be available in six-pack cans. The limited beer will be available at Back East Brewery, at Connecticut package stores, and on draft at select bars & restaurants across Connecticut. Brewed with Bavarian malt and hops, and fermented with their house ale yeast, this deep orangish colored beer has a nice malty sweetness balanced by a clean, dry finish, with some fruity notes.
This beer will be available in Back East’s tasting room beginning Friday, August 7. It will also be available on draft across Connecticut beginning the week of August 3. Cans will ship to New Haven and Fairfield counties the week of August 10th and to the rest of Connecticut the week of August 17th.
Back East Brewery co-founder Tony Karlowicz notes the popularity of canned beer. “We’re really excited to now be canning Octoberfest. This is our 8th beer in cans, joining our four year-round beers, Palate Mallet, Shad Derby Pale Ale, and Summer Ale. It is very expensive to introduce a new beer in cans due to the large quantity that we need to purchase, however, our Summer Ale proved that it made sense to do this with Octoberfest. This summer we brewed almost 500 barrels of Summer Ale, as compared to only 100 barrels last year, and it seemed like that wasn’t even enough to meet demand.”
