Learning Curve Episode 004: Border X Brewing
Jul. 24, 2017 at 8:36 PM
Shot on location in San Diego and Portland, Ore., the latest episode of Learning Curve follows the founders of Border X Brewing as they learn from multiple Craft Brew Alliance executives and brew a collaboration beer in the recently built Widmer Brothers Innovation Brewery.
Border X is a small craft beer company based in San Diego’s Barrio Logan neighborhood. The company, which recently expanded its brewhouse and constructed an outdoor patio, draws its brand inspiration from traditional Mexican culture. Many Border X beers include ingredients such as hibiscus, agave and Mexican chocolate, and the company’s tasting room features traditional Mexican chalkboard art, live music and street tacos.
In this episode, Border X founders David, Martin and Marcel Favela share the story of Chicano Park in Barrio Logan, explore the PDX beer scene and brew a Dunkelweizen with Mazapan.
The Startup Brewery Challenge, sponsored by Craft Brew Alliance, gives new beer company owners a chance to pitch their brands and sample a core beer to a panel of expert judges.
