ESCANABA, Mich. – Upper Hand Brewery is excited to announce that Yooper Ale will soon join the brewery’s year-round portfolio of bottled beers. Currently only on draught, it will be available in bottles beginning in January.
Yooper Ale is a nod to the people of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula (U.P.), often fondly referred to as Yoopers. Just like life in the U.P., this simple, yet beautiful beer is brewed to celebrate what makes life north of Michigan’s Mackinac Bridge so special.
A sessionable Pale Ale with an ABV of 4.0%, Yooper Ale uses Nugget and Michigan Chinook hops in the kettle, followed by a dry-hop addition of Citra and Cascade to bring out bright, punchy and fresh citrus aromas. U.P. grown oats contribute a subtle toastiness and give this beer a smooth mouthfeel.
“Being a Yooper is not necessarily something you can put into words. It takes humility, combined with integrity and resilience to live in some of the harshest, yet most beautiful country in the lower 48,” commented Larry Bell, President and Founder of Bell’s Brewery, Inc. (Upper Hand Brewery is a division of Bell’s). “Yooper Ale is brewed for Yoopers and all those who share a love of the North.”
Yooper Ale will join Upper Hand’s year-round portfolio of craft beers available in bottles and on draught, including UPA (Upper Peninsula Ale), Escanaba Black Beer and Upper Hand Lager.
