Tree House Brewing is looking beyond the golf course to the race track.
The Massachusetts-based craft brewery will open a new facility in Saratoga Springs, New York, in 2024, Tree House announced today on social media.
The location will feature “an expansive indoor and outdoor experience,” located “across the street from Saratoga Performing Arts Center, five minutes from the Saratoga Race Course, 30 minutes north of Albany, and under an hour from the celebrated Adirondack State Park,” according to an Instagram post.
Saratoga Springs will be Tree House’s sixth location, and first outside of New England. The brewery’s other locations include:
- Charlton, Massachusetts, its flagship location;
- Tewksbury, Massachusetts, opened in early 2022 on a 50-acre golf course;
- Sandwich, Massachusetts, in operation since 2021, despite some conflict with locals;
- Deerfield, Massachusetts, opened in 2021;
- And Woodstock, Connecticut, a 100-acre farm that began serving beer on-site this year, in addition to its existing hard cider offerings.
“Saratoga Springs draws tourists keen to experience its spas, racing, and vibrant arts scene. Its historical legacy is still felt in the city’s elegant architecture, robust arts scene, world-class racetrack, and the continued prominence of its spa culture,” Tree House wrote in the Instagram post. “With reverence for history and a vision for the future, Tree House aims to become an integral chapter in Saratoga Springs’ vibrant and hopeful future.”
Tree House did not share an opening date for the New York location. The company expects to add at least 60 jobs to support the project, with an estimated economic impact of $30 million to $40 million annually, according to the post.
Additionally, the first beer at the location will benefit Sustainable Saratoga, a non-profit organization, and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
“Our commitment to quality remains unwavering,” Tree House wrote. “Our core values are unchanged. Our focus on quality is sharper than ever, retaining the meticulous approach we started with 12 years ago in our kitchen. Our brewing volumes for the last five years have remained mostly the same, and it may surprise you that we do not crack the top 75 largest breweries by volume.
“Your patronage has enabled us to pursue a dream we never thought possible,” the company continued. “Many of you have traveled to us from this region for years, supporting us by standing in the cold, awaiting the day’s allotments. We are so grateful you entrusted us with this opportunity, and we are excited to return the favor.”
Tree House was the No. 61 largest regional craft brewery by volume in the country in 2022, as well as the largest taproom in the Northeast, according to the Brewers Association (BA). The company produced 44,000 barrels of beer in 2022, a +10% increase versus 2021.
Tree House does extremely limited distribution and instead focuses on both on- and off-premise sales from its facilities. The company also produces spirits, coffee, seltzer and cider.
