Green Bay, WI. — The Beverage Testing Institute (Chicago, IL) has awarded Green Bay’s Stillmank Beer Company a Silver Medal in the 2013 specialty beer category of the World Beer Championships. The blind judging panel seated in Chicago, IL on August 26th, 2013 has selected Stillmank’s amber ale known as Wisco Disco for this distinction. Stillmank’s Wisco Disco ale has been made available exclusively in North Eastern Wisconsin for just over a year.
“We have made a very large effort to keep our brand (Wisco Disco) local, and available to our friends, and neighbors first. This relatively small footprint means brewing small batches, and delivering very fresh beer that has experienced little handling, and exposure to adverse conditions for our beer.”
Through sourcing as many local (Wisconsin) raw materials, Stillmank is able to produce a very fresh and drinkable, yet full flavored amber ale. The tasting notes from the judges even reflect how well this beer would pair with cheese. This comment is something that Stillmank is particularly proud of;
“As I was building the recipe for Wisco Disco, it was very important to be sure our beer would taste great with Wisconsin cheese. I have always thought cheese, particularly a sharp cheddar, is the best compliment to a great beer. The fact that the judges noticed this in a blind sampling, and made this comment in their final notes is really cool.”
Stillmank will be scheduling many tastings, and special events for Wisco Disco over the next few weeks to celebrate this award. They will start this sampling tour with a ‘real ale cask” tapping of Wisco Disco at the Bay Area Humane Society’s Brew-fest at the KI Convention Center on Saturday, October 26th. The sampling events will continue through November at various local taverns and bottle shops. For more details on when and where to catch Stillmank for a taste go to: www.StillmankBrewing.com.
