ATLANTA — Atlanta brewery Second Self Beer Company’s latest release is Bleeding Heart (6.9% ABV, 27 IBU), an amber ale just in time for Valentine’s Day. One of Second Self’s most popular seasonals year after year, Bleeding Heart is inspired by the classic Southern dessert red velvet cake and is brewed with cocoa and vanilla.
Bleeding Heart finds a balance between sweet, malty flavors and hops. Like red velvet cake, cocoa adds color and a touch of bitterness, while vanilla acts as the icing on top. The beer will be available through the end of March.
Suggested pairings for the beer include steak, roasted butternut squash, gorgonzola cheese, and a loved one to share it with.
Bleeding Heart is currently available on draft and in cans at Second Self’s taproom in Atlanta (1317 Logan Circle NW), and in bars, markets, and restaurants throughout Georgia and Alabama.
