Wilkes-Barre, PA — The Lion Brewery has invested $7 million in state-of-the-art brewery equipment upgrades. Production with the new equipment began on May 1st, 2017.
These improvements include a new high speed labeler with paper and pressure sensitive label capabilities and a split deck pasteurizer that can run with or without pasteurization.
The pasteurizer is the only one of its kind in North America, unique for its capability to operate on different pasteurization temperatures on each of its two decks.
Since 2010, the brewery has invested over $20 million into the brewery, which also includes a new can line, bottle filler, and keg filler.
In operation since 1905, The Lion Brewery is the producer of the Lionshead and Stegmaier beer brands. In addition to its own brands, the brewery serves the industry as a contract brewer and has brewing, keg, bottling and canning capabilities, a 75,000 sq ft. warehouse and a 400 barrel kettle. The Brewery operates the bottling line 24 hours a day, 5 days per week and the brew house and can line 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
In addition to these recent upgrades, the Brewery has continually been improving its operating capability.

The brewery currently has in-house product design capabilities, an engineering team, a procurement team, a Quality Lab, and 2 Microbiologists on staff.
