BUENA VISTA — Eddyline Brewery just completed the installation of a CFT canning system that provides a tremendous increase in quality while tripling canning speeds. There are currently less than two dozen in the country. When researching canning lines, Italy based CFT Packaging USA Inc. offered a solution that would minimize oxidation, loss of aroma, and inconsistent fills. The CFT canning line includes an X-Ray fill level analyzer that ensures all cans are perfectly filled while underfilled cans are automatically rejected. Overall, Eddyline’s commitment to quality is demonstrated by their investment into the new canning line.
“Our River Runners Pale Ale has won both a Gold-Medal at the Great American Beer Festival and a Silver-Medal at the World Beer Cup mostly because of its great aroma; however, the aroma was lost in the packaging process. The results from the new CFT canning line have hugely improved the quality and aroma with our product line. We are committed to creating the highest quality beers,” explained Mic Heynekamp, Owner of Eddyline Brewery.
Eddyline Brewery is projected to produce 5,500 barrels (bbls) of beer in 2015 and 7,500 bbls in 2016. The new expansion has the capability to produce upwards of 40,000 bbls. Eddyline currently distributes in Colorado with plans to pursue markets in Arizona and New Mexico for 2015. Before expanding to outside markets, the quality of the canned beers has to be the best possible. Eddyline currently has three year-round canned beers (CrankYanker IPA, River Runners Pale Ale, Jolly Roger Black Lager) and has multiple seasonal canned beers, also available on draft.
“We have substantially invested in our brewery to increase our quality; we are only interested in making the best beers possible and critically examine our process from ingredient selection, to the brewing process, and finally packaging. Packaging was our weak link and we are excited to now being able to offer a superior product,” stated Mic Heynekamp, Owner of Eddyline Brewery.
Eddyline Brewery began canning its flagship CrankYanker IPA in 2011 to meet customer demand, wanting a convenient way to take Eddyline beers along on their mountain adventures. Demand grew rapidly and plans were underway for a brewery expansion that ended in adding a 9,000 square foot addition, a four vessel Newlands brewhouse, and additional patio seating including a bandstand for a summer music series. Eddyline Brewery has received awards for its River Runners Pale Ale including a Silver Medal at the 2014 World Beer Cup® for the Australasian-Style Pale Ale or International-Style Pale Ale and a 2012 Gold Medal at the Great American Beer Festival® for the International-Style Pale Ale category.
