Boston Beer Company chief sales officer John Geist will retire at the end of the year after 26 years with the company and seven years leading sales.
Geist will remain in the chief sales officer role through December 31. He will then transition into a senior advisor role until he slips into full retirement at an undetermined date in 2024.
Senior sales director Michael Crowley will take over the reigns as chief sales officer, effective January 1, 2024. Geist and Crowley will work on the transition starting in September.
Geist started at Boston Beer in 1997 and ascended to VP of sales in 2007.
Crowley joined Boston Beer in 1996 as a regional sales manager in New York and New Jersey. He has served as Boston Beer’s Atlantic Division senior sales director since 2014. He previously worked as senior national account manager from 2011 to 2014.
Boston Beer also announced plans today for a 10b5-1 plan to repurchase up to $30 million of the company’s Class A common stock between October 2 and December 29.
Geist’s retirement is the latest c-suite change at Boston Beer this year.
