Washington, D.C. — The Beer Institute — a national trade association representing brewers, beer importers, and industry suppliers — announced today that Travis Gibbons has been named senior director of health policy and regulatory affairs. Gibbons brings over a decade of government and advocacy experience to the Beer Institute.
“Travis’ deep knowledge of health policy and regulatory affairs will enable us to continue to successfully advocate for the over 1.75 million Americans whose jobs rely on a thriving beer industry,” said Jim McGreevy, President and CEO of the Beer Institute. “His years of hands-on experience working with legislators on Capitol Hill and with federal agencies will be vitally important to advance the interests of our nation’s beer industry so it can continue to pour nearly $253 billion into our economy.”
“The beer industry has never been more dynamic, and I am looking forward to promoting sound public policy that benefits brewers, beer importers, and industry suppliers,” said Gibbons. “This will include working on the 2020 Dietary Guidelines as well as effectively implementing new regulations that will soon go into effect that will require chain restaurants to provide calorie information on their menus and menu boards.”
Gibbons most recently worked as the Director of Federal Affairs for the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) where he advocated for over-the-counter drugs and dietary supplements both on Capitol Hill and to the federal agencies that regulate this industry. Before joining CHPA, he worked for Jordan & Associates as a senior associate and lobbyist. Before that, he served as a legislative aide to United States Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah).
