ATLANTA – Arches Brewing, a lager-focused craft brewery located in Hapeville, Ga., will unveil its first round of cans to the Atlanta market this week. Arches will introduce three of its year-round selections to the public in a series of launch events beginning with Queen’s Weiss, followed by Southern Bel’ and Unseasonal Lager.
“We’re excited to expand our reach in Atlanta’s growing craft beer market with the release of three unique styles in cans,” said Ryan Fogelgren, co-founder of Arches Brewing. “Over the past year, we’ve been encouraged by the continued success of our selections being brought into restaurant and bar taps around Atlanta. We look forward to making our beer even more accessible to consumers.”
Arches began canning for the first time last Friday, packaging approximately 200 cases of each style, with volumes planned to double in October. As part of distributing the first batch of cans to the market, Arches will host three separate launch events at the brewery to give the community a first look and taste of the finished product. The schedule and beer profiles are as follows:
- Queen’s Weiss (Friday, September 15)– Designed on a Bavarian water profile, this Hefeweizen is a simple, light bodied ale that’s been the style of choice for German royalty for centuries. It offers bright banana and clove flavors with subtle pink bubblegum undertones.
- Southern Bel’ (Friday, September 22) – Designed on a Belgian water profile, this Belgium ale offers delicate fruity esters and an elaborate body, which is complemented by complex flavors of dark fruit and coconut drawn from exotic South American wood.
- Unseasonal Lager(Friday, October 6) – A well-balanced style that can be enjoyed throughout the year. Traditional European techniques help create the light amber color, delicate body and complex flavor profile.
Additionally, starting on Sunday, October 1, Arches Brewing will collaborate with several beer-centric outfits to release cans in the market for the first time. Victory Sandwich Bar in Inman Park will host the first can launch celebration and will be the first Atlanta destination to sell the newly canned selections. Release events will continue that week at Hop City Krog Street Market, Georgia Beer Garden, Southbound, and the newly constructed Corner Tavern in Hapeville.
By the end of October, Queen’s Weiss, Southern Bel’ and Unseasonal Lager cans will be available for purchase in more than 200 package stores and bars across Atlanta.
The can designs, created by advertising agencyVML Atlanta, showcase the unique vision of elegance and simplicity combining old-world and modern design. “The design team used as an inspiration the essence of the Arches brand, a perfect balance between millenary brewing techniques, modern production processes and progressive customer experience,” said Maurizio Villarreal, executive creative director at VML. “The result, a very elegant yet modern design system that represents each beer personality in a very memorable way.”
