Ready-to-drink (RTD) mimosa and sangria producer Ohza has been acquired by FX Matt, the companies announced today. The acquisition brings a wine-based offering to FX Matt’s growing stable of RTD and beyond beer brands, which includes McKenzie’s Hard Cider, ‘Merican Mule spirits-based RTDs and Right Coast Spirits vodka- and tequila-based RTDs.
New York’s FX Matt Brewing Company has struck a deal to acquire Flying Dog Brewery in Frederick, Maryland, the companies announced today. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Flying Dog’s production will begin shifting to FX Matt’s Utica, New York-based production facility over the summer with operations in Maryland expected to stop “sometime in August.”

Another craft-focused contract brewing operation has entered the fray. Great Central Brewing Company (GCBC) broke ground on a new 32,000 sq. ft. contract brewing facility in Chicago last week. Scheduled for a summer 2016 opening, the brewery joins a growing list of craft-minded contract facilities established to help other small producers scale up, instead of focusing on their own in-house labels.
The F.X. Matt Brewing Co., brewer of Saranac Soft Drinks, is re-introducing the Jed’s brand in November, 2015. The “Jed’s Hard” line will include Root Beer, Orange Cream, and Black Cherry Cream – each flavor being made from and inspired by the well-known “Saranac 1888” soft drink line.
F.X. Matt Brewing, more commonly known as Saranac, is getting set to debut a new marketing campaign across multiple platforms, including television, a still relatively untapped medium for craft brewers. Dubbed “Pour Your Soul Into It,” the campaign was developed to better relay the company’s history and its own position in the craft beer landscape, which Saranac president Fred Matt said has been unfairly disputed by some consumers.
Saranac is debuting Immortality, the newest selection in their High Peaks Series. Immortality is a hop forward Imperial Amber Ale made with hops sourced locally, just minutes from the brewery.
Saranac has mastered the forces of NITRO in their newest year-round beer, Disruption Brown Ale. Disruption has made Saranac the first craft brewery on the east coast to release a nitrogenated can beer.
F.X. Matt Brewing Co., brewers of the Saranac brand, is investing $3.5 million in an Edward Street property — right across from its main brewery in Utica, N.Y. — to expand its fermenting and aging capacity. The expansion will tack on 100,000 barrels to its ultimate capacity, lifting its ceiling to half a million barrels.
