Overview
Thirty miles off the coast of Cape Cod is the small island of Nantucket that is the home to Nantucket Vineyard, Cisco Brewers and Triple Eight Distillery.
Nantucket Vineyard was established in 1981 by Dean and Melissa Long. Nantucket Vineyard began out of a love for both farming and drinking wine on the far away island. The vineyard started with 10 acres of assorted grape varieties which reached maturity in 1986 when the first vintages were produced.
In 1992, Dean and Melissa, met Randy and Wendy Hudson—who moved into the loft over their winery and began lending a hand to the Long’s wine endeavors. Wendy had a history of homebrewing beer, and she turned Randy onto it, which led to the birth of Cisco Brewers. The brewery was outside in the Longs’ backyard—which made it, officially, America’s only outdoor (commercial) brewery. Due to increasing demand for their beer, in 1995 a structure was built that became Cisco Brewers which serves as its home to this day. In 1997, a copper still was acquired to produce spirit for Nantucket Vineyard's fortified wine program, which marked the birth of Triple Eight Distillery.

Craft Brew Alliance’s nearly four-year-long strategy of partnering with smaller brands has officially culminated with three separate purchase agreements that, combined, will cost the company less than $45 million.
