Brewers Association Releases 2022 Rankings of Top 50 Craft Breweries By Volume; Athletic Brewing, Fiddlehead Make Big Leaps Again

The Brewers Association (BA) has shared its rankings of the top 50 independent craft breweries by sales volume, with U.S. craft brewers under the trade group’s small and independent brewery definition collectively producing 24.3 million barrels of beer and gaining 0.1% share of the overall beer market by volume to claim 13.2% share.

Brewers Association Shares 2021 Priorities and Initiatives

National not-for-profit trade ground the Brewers Association (BA) today announced the organization’s priorities and initiatives for 2021. The BA, which promotes the interests of small and independent craft brewing companies, shared in an email to members that its board of directors held its final meeting of 2020 in which the organization’s 2021 budget was approved and the trade group’s agenda and priorities for the new year were set.

Following the retirement of long-time executive director Tom McCormick, the California Craft Brewers Association (CCBA) has hired Lori Ajax as its next executive director, effective January 4, 2021.

The Brewers Association has postponed registration for next year’s Craft Brewers Conference and BrewExpo America until early 2021, according to an update on the conference website. “We are working hard, having ongoing conversations with the host city of San Diego and paying close attention to information regarding the evolving nature of this pandemic, and how it affects live events such as ours,” the BA wrote.

Craft brewers’ sales improved during the third quarter of 2020, but are still far off from where they were in 2019, according to a new analysis by Brewers Association (BA) chief economist Bart Watson.
