SAN DIEGO, Calif. – North Park’s The Original 40 Brewing Company, voted as Best Brewpub 2024 by readers of San Diego Magazine, has released Sinfully Wicked West Coast IPA and Rye You Crying? Hazy IPA. Both beers are available on draft and in four packs of 16-oz cans. Brewer Steven Terán made the announcement.
Sinfully Wicked is 6.66% alcohol-by-volume (ABV), and it features CTZ hop extract along with Chinook, Amarillo, Citra, Columbus, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops. It has aromas of citrus and tropical fruits – mainly grapefruit, orange, and lemon – with underlying pine notes, resinous notes, and a hint of earthy spiciness.
“Sinfully Wicked might be our most hop-forward IPA to date,” Terán said. “The recipe was carefully calculated to get the appropriate ABV for its name as well. This is an excellent choice for hop enthusiasts who are looking for a beer with depth and character, while maybe looking to take a little walk on the sinful side.”
Sinfully Wicked is one of four West Coast IPAs on the current draft menu, joining Big Tings (Double West Coast IPA), Left Coast, and Westerly Flow.
Rye You Crying? is 7.0% ABV, and it was brewed with flaked rye while dry hopped with Nelson Sauvin, Mosaic, and Motueka hops. The beer has subtle citrus tasting notes and aromas of passionfruit, gooseberry, and a hint of lychee. The flaked rye adds a subtle spice flavor at the end and a more full-mouth feel.
“You’ll be crying your eyes out with this one – out of pure joy,” Terán said. “We are excited to roll out this beer having not used flaked rye in recent memory. No lie, you’ll love the Rye that balances sweetness and earthiness.”
Rye You Crying? is one of three Hazy IPAs on the current draft menu, joining Stratiform and the award-winning Juice Maze.
Original 40 won Runner-Up honors for Best Brewery 2024 from San Diego Magazine in addition to the Best Brewpub honor.
