Ventura, CA — Surf Brewery, a small craft brewery, celebrating their 5th year anniversary, with an onsite tasting room and homebrew shop, and only California distribution, announced they are releasing another barrel – aged beer today in time for Father’s Day, under the Scientific Series label.
This Scientific Series limited edition Imperial Amber brew is a mosaic of elegant bourbon barrel influenced overtones layered with, and supported by, complex malt expressions. This gorgeous brown hued beauty steeped from our brewer’s malt pallet with no less than nine elements in the grain bill. Finished with a long melanoidin evolving boil. Six long months of maturing in Belle Meade™ straight bourbon barrels coaxed varied caramel and vanilla bourbon flavors from the aged American oak to interlace with the balanced malt character. This ale is at home in support of a delicious meal or dessert, or simply as a solo sipper while musing life poetic.

Doug Mason, co-founder, and barrelmeister, mentions, “We enjoyed our first bourbon barrel aged beer so much, last year’s B-02 Oatmeal Stout that we wanted to continue the trend with a different beer style. We regularly brew an American Amber and thought about super-sizing it for the bourbon barrels. It turned out fantastic! The release coincides with Father’s Day and our 5th year Anniversary and will make a lot of beer drinkers very happy.”
