DENVER — River North Brewery has announced the annual release of Barrel Aged Avarice, its original barrel-aged imperial stout. The 2017 vintage debuts this Saturday, November 11th at noon in the brewery taproom.
A dry Belgian-style imperial stout, Barrel-Aged Avarice spent 10 months maturing in whiskey barrels, complimenting base notes of baker’s chocolate with smooth oaky tannins. The result is a quaffable beer that is never too sweet, strikingly different from most other barrel-aged imperial stouts.
To kick off the release party, River North will tap a three-year vertical of Barrel AgedAvarice, with vintages dating back to 2015. The brewery will also offer bottles of 2017 Barrel Aged Avarice at $10 each, with a one-case limit. A limited number of bottles will also ship to Colorado stores in advance of Thanksgiving. This beer serves as the perfect complement to turkey, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie.
Finally, River North has also solidified release dates for the remainder of its special releases for this year. The long-awaited Vicennial Series debuts Saturday, November 25th, followed by Mr. Sandman and Barrel Aged Mr. Sandman on December 9th.
