DOVER, DE — The Fordham Brewing Co. has donated a portion of the profits from the sale of Rosie Parks Oyster Stout to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (CBMM).
Fordham Brewing made the decision to bring back their popular oyster stout recipe to promote the restoration of a Chesapeake Bay artifact, the Rosie Parks skipjack. CBMM is in the process of restoring the boat, which was originally constructed in in 1955 by Bronza Parks. For many years, the boat raced across the Chesapeake Bay and dredged for oysters. Rosie Parks is one of the least altered skipjacks still in existence. The decision to support CBMM and this historic restoration with a locally sourced oyster stout reflected the brewery’s priorities.
President and CEO of Fordham and Dominion Brewing, Jim Lutz, stated, “The Fordham Brewing Co. has always been proud of its connections to the past. When the chance to support another historic project came along, we jumped at the opportunity. Generations to come will have the opportunity to learn about maritime life from the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum’s preservation projects.”
Rosie Parks Oyster Stout is available in Maryland, Virginia, Washington, DC and Delaware for a limited time in 22-ounce bottles and on draft. She was premiered at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum OysterFest on November 3rd.
