Boulder, CO – Boulder Beer Company, Colorado’s First Craft Brewery, has partnered with Frank Day to open a second Boulder Beer location on Walnut Street in downtown Boulder where the Walnut Brewery currently operates.
CraftWorks Restaurants & Brewery Group, Inc, the current owner of the Walnut Brewery, has transitioned ownership of the Walnut Brewery to Boulder’s Frank Day, founder of the Walnut Brewery, Old Chicago, and the owner of the Hotel Boulderado. The Walnut Brewery, Boulder’s original brewpub, will close on June 4th, 2017, and reopen as Boulder Beer on Walnut in early July. Day will partner with Boulder Beer Company, Colorado’s First Craft Brewery, to reinvent and rebrand this historic brewpub under the Boulder Beer heading.
“We’re Colorado’s first craft brewery, and there’s no better way to grow our legacy than to take over the location of Boulder’s first brewpub,” said Jeff Brown, Boulder Beer’s president and partner. “I’m really excited to have the opportunity to work with Frank and expand downtown.”
The Walnut’s 7-barrel brewhouse will be a welcome addition to the Boulder Beer R&D program, allowing the brewery to ramp up its small batch offerings.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to expand our R & D experimental offerings, moving from our current 1-barrel pilot system to this 7-barrel system,” said Boulder Beer Brewmaster, David Zuckerman. “The plan is to move our R & D to the Walnut brewhouse and be able to serve those beers at both facilities to get feedback from our guests. The sky’s the limit now with what we can brew on a small scale, keeping up with the consumer trend of wanting what’s new.”
With twenty draft lines at the Walnut location, Boulder Beer plans to serve a variety of its core beers, pilot and barrel-aged brews, a few of the classic Walnut Brewery beers, and periodically some rotating guest taps.
