BEND, Ore. — Bend Brewing Company is poised for a big summer with the opening of a new production space, launch of 16oz cans, increased Portland distribution through Running Man Distributing and the hiring of a new Head Brewer.
Construction is nearing completion at Bend Brewing Company’s new NE Bend production space. The new space features a 15 bbl Portland Kettleworks brewhouse (acquired from our friends at Sunriver Brewing), three 30 bbl Marks Metalworks fermenters and two 30 bbl brite tanks. The new space was needed to take pressure off the original 7 bbl brewhouse at the downtown brewpub. The extra capacity will allow Bend Brewing Company to increase distribution of its landmark kettle sour beers, Ching Ching and Razztafari, while also launching 3 brand new beers in 16oz cans. The new beers include Camp Beer, a highly sessionable low alcohol Cream Ale, Tropic Pines IPA, a Simcoe, Mosaic and Falconer’s Flight loaded West Coast IPA, and ExplOregon, a dry hopped lager.
Running Man Distributing will begin distributing Bend Brewing Company beers for the Portland market in June with the cans launching in July.
Bend Brewing Company has hired veteran Oregon brewer, Zach Beckwith, as Head Brewer to lead the 23 year old brewing company through this exciting phase. “I am honored to be a part of a brewery with such an incredible legacy and excited to honor that history while helping to lead the brewery into the future.”
Bend Brewing Company will also host its first ever Sour Fest on Saturday May 12, 2018 from noon-7pm featuring sour beers from Bend Brewing Company and 19 other local and national breweries. Full details can be found on the events facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/events/428979990848631/
