Thimble Island Brewing Company: Barrel Aged M.A.D.

Each year we reserve a portion of our Russian Imperial Stout and age it in wet bourbon barrels. This imparts rich flavors of oak, bourbon and the velvety smoothness of this high gravity offering develops with time. Our Russian Imperial Stout M.A.D. cranks the aroma and flavor dials to 11 with a strong roasted malt profile that adds a prominent sweetness to the beer, along with notes of caramel and molasses. The result is an exceptionally dark, bold complex and surprisingly well balanced beer.
