- Born in 1907. Reborn in 2017. Must be 21+ to follow. Like so many New Orleanians, Dixie Beer was pushed out of its hometown by Hurricane Katrina floodwaters. Now, more than a decade later, Tom and Gayle Benson have purchased the company with plans to bring Dixie Beer back home and back to a high standard of quality. The first beers brewed under the new leadership will be poured in June 2017. At the same time, the search for the Orleans Parish site of the new Dixie Brewery will be nearing completion. Finally, the original craft beer of New Orleans is coming home!
