Overview
Brewing innovative, quality craft beer by a passionate team of dedicated beer lovers, committed to supporting our community.
The story of Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. really starts when Fritz Rahr graduated from Texas Christian University. Fortunately for beer lovers in North Texas, Fritz not only fell in love with Fort Worth, but also fell in love with his future wife, Erin. Fortunately for us all, Erin gave Fritz the green light when he announced that he would like to carry on the Rahr family brewing tradition and open the Rahr & Sons Brewing Company right here in Fort Worth, Texas.
Fritz and Erin Rahr founded Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. in the fall of 2004. In nine years, Rahr has exponentially grown its brewing capacity from 2,000 barrels a year to 20,000 barrels a year. The brewery has won over 50 nationally-recognized awards, including a Silver Medal at the 2012 Great American Beer Festival, a Bronze Medal at the 2008 World Beer Cup for Bucking Bock, and was the 2009 National Grand Champion at the United States Beer Tasting Championship for Iron Thistle.
The Rahr family looks forward to more growth and even more awards for the brewery, but Fritz and Erin are most excited about continuing to brew great tasting beers that can be found throughout Texas and continuing to serve these great beers directly to you at a Wednesday or Saturday Tour & Tasting! Someday their sons will be brewing and serving up some of these award-winning, great tasting beers too...as long as you keep drinking them.
Dallas-based indie whiskey producer, Oak & Eden has announced the upcoming release of their third small batch creation, The Ale Series, a two-part product collaboration with Rahr & Sons Brewery (Fort Worth, Texas) to create Rahr Soaked Malted Oak and Rahr Soaked Hopped Oak.
In November, Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. will release its popular Bourbon Barrel Aged Winter Warmer (BBAWW), aged 100 percent in Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Tennessee Whiskey barrels for the first time.
As Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. shifts its focus from bottles to cans, the craft brewery is also rolling out a new look for its year-round beers and some seasonal offerings. This year, Rahr’s Blonde, Texas Red and Ugly Pug, as well as Iron Thistle, Summertime Wheat, Oktoberfest, Winter Warmer and a new beer, Dadgum IPA, will get a brand new look and be available in cans – many for the first time.
Following a company-wide shift and growing industry trend from bottles to cans, Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. will release two seasonal beers, Iron Thistle and Iron Joe, in cans for the first time in 2017.
Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. will release two winter beers, Bourbon Barrel Aged Winter Warmer (BBAWW) and Angry Santa, at the end of this month. Both beers start with Rahr & Sons’ Winter Warmer – an English dark ale known for its savory notes of plum, raisin and chocolate – which then is brewed with different ingredients to create two beers with distinctive flavor profiles.
The city’s hometown brewery, Rahr & Sons Brewing Co., will make The Fort Worth, an American session ale, available year-round in 12-ounce cans and on draft beginning in May. A portion of all sales of The Fort Worth, named in honor of the naval ship USS Fort Worth, are donated to the USS Fort Worth Support Committee, which provides moral support and appreciation for the ship’s crew and families. The beer was originally released as a seasonal offering in August 2015.
One of the largest craft breweries in Texas is expanding to the Sooner state. Starting March 1, Rahr & Sons Brewing Co.’s craft beers will be available on store shelves and on tap at many restaurants and bars in Oklahoma.
FORT WORTH, TX — Beginning in 2014, beer connoisseurs will get to enjoy craft brews from North Texas’ oldest brewery as a 12-ounce canned beverage. Rahr & Sons Brewing Co. will launch a selection of canned beers to the Dallas-Fort Worth market in early 2014, which will include 12-pack cases of Rahr’s Blonde, as well… Read more »
