The impact of COVID-19 is being felt around the world, including Central Kentucky. As the local community works to combat the spread of coronavirus, hand sanitizer remains in high demand. In an effort to help supplement the shortage, Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co. is using its own alcohol supply to produce hand sanitizer and provide it free of charge.
The clouds parted and the sun shone just as crowds gathered in front of Dueling Barrels Brewery & Distillery for a look at Eastern Kentucky’s first combined beer, bourbon and moonshine operation. Gleaming copper pot stills towered in the background as Alltech officials and community leaders cut the ribbon on the highly anticipated project, which will open for public tours on June 28.
Just over 11 years after the introduction of Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, the beloved Kentucky Proud barrel-aged brew is showing up with a new look. On Oct. 26, Alltech Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co. will release Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale in six-packs of aluminum cans.
Revolution Brewing yesterday issued a recall of more than 10,000 barrels of beer packaged between Aug. 3 and Oct. 11 due to off-flavors that developed in six of the company’s more popular products. In an interview with Brewbound, brewery founder Josh Deth speculated that a majority of the recalled product had already been consumed, but said that the company would likely be forced to remove at least 3,000 barrels of beer from distributor warehouses and retailer shelves. If that’s the case, Revolution could miss out on about $1 million worth of sales to wholesalers and the company will also incur charges to destroy the damaged product.

Continuing its exploration of the craft alcoholic beverage sector, Alltech, a global biotech nutrition company, is investing $13 million in the construction of a new 27,972 sq. ft.brewery and distillery in downtown Pikeville, Ky. Having broken ground on the project earlier this summer, the company expects Dueling Barrels Brewing & Distilling Co. to be open in 2016.
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Prepare your taste buds for a bold, rich barrel-aged brew that steps outside the box (or six-pack). Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Barley Wine is hitting shelves locally as the second barrel-aged seasonal brew from Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company, following the success of the craft brewery’s Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale last fall.
