Brewers Association Releases 2022 Rankings of Top 50 Craft Breweries By Volume; Athletic Brewing, Fiddlehead Make Big Leaps Again

The Brewers Association (BA) has shared its rankings of the top 50 independent craft breweries by sales volume, with U.S. craft brewers under the trade group’s small and independent brewery definition collectively producing 24.3 million barrels of beer and gaining 0.1% share of the overall beer market by volume to claim 13.2% share.

Brewers Association: Craft Export Growth Slows to Single-Digits in 2017

For the second consecutive year, U.S. craft beer exports grew in the low-single digits. However, growth of international shipments has slowed considerably as the export market has matured and competition from brewers in those foreign markets has increased. The Brewers Association (BA) announced Tuesday that U.S. craft beer exports grew 3.6 percent, to 482,309 barrels, in 2017.

The United States Senate passed a sweeping tax reform bill early Saturday morning that includes a number of changes to the tax code and benefits alcohol producers. With a vote of 51-49 today, the Senate passed H.R. 1, the “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act,” which is the largest tax overhaul in 31 years and includes the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act (CBMTRA).

The Majority of US Senators Now Endorse Beer Excise Tax Reform

A majority of U.S. senate members now support legislation that would reduce excise taxes on all brewers and importers. According to a press release jointly produced by six beverage lobbying groups, including the Beer Institute and the Brewers Association, 51 senators have co-sponsored Senate Bill 236, known as the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act (CBMTRA).
