Lawson’s Finest Liquids has achieved Electric Vehicle Adoption Leadership (EVAL) Certification at the platinum (highest) level! Lawson’s Finest is committed to continual innovation and investment in sustainability, and this major milestone reflects their core belief that Green Is Grand.
Supported by the U.S. Department of Energy, the EVAL Certification program is designed to assist, certify and celebrate employers and businesses like Lawson’s Finest who are dedicated to advancing clean transportation opportunities.
“Thirty percent of greenhouse gas emissions are contributed by the transportation sector,” said Carra Cheslin, Social Impact Program (SIP) Manager. “One of the ways that we are responding to this environmental issue is by supporting the use of electric vehicles as part of a brighter future, and we invite the public to charge right here on our campus!”
Lawson’s Finest’s destination brewery in Waitsfield, Vt., features 12 level-two electric vehicle charging stations, including both Tesla and Chargepoint chargers available for brewery guests, and are powered by the largest solar canopy in the state of Vermont, constructed by Lawson’s Finest in 2022. The 43kW AC system and series of over 140 solar panels produce approximately 52,000 kWh of electricity per year. The setup, along with a solar array that generates 215kW across 495 modules, also offsets about 60 percent of the Waitsfield Brewery’s utility bill.
The Waitsfield destination taproom opened in 2018, and – in addition to the largest solar canopy in Vermont – features a stunning beer and curated food menu, full of locally sourced ingredients and fresh, seasonal dishes. To the team at Lawson’s Finest Liquids, “locally sourced” means Vermont raised or grown, and prioritizing ingredients originating in the Mad River Valley. Beer is also a common ingredient, adding a unique twist to their mustard, chili and more. True to their B Corp ideals, Lawson’s Finest has built their delicious food menu around sustainable practices.
A B Corp Certified brewery, Lawson’s Finest Liquids gives back through the SIP, which includes environmental initiatives like their electric vehicle program, employee-first workplace efforts and community giving. The values-driven brewery has donated over $2 million to over 300 non-profit organizations since 2018.
