SweetWater Brewing is the latest craft brewery to expand into Pennsylvania, announcing plans to extend its footprint into Pittsburgh in the first week of June with Frank B. Fuhrer Wholesale.
The Atlanta-based brewery follows other top craft players New Belgium, Lagunitas and Deschutes, which all added or expanded distribution in the state this month.
In a press release, SweetWater did not indicate when it would add additional markets throughout the state.
SweetWater, which in 2014 sold a minority stake to TSG Consumer Partners, will hit the Pittsburgh market with 420 Extra Pale Ale, SweetWater IPA, Waterkeeper Hefeweizen, Take Two Pils, Hop Hash, SweetWater Blue, and its variety pack, Tackle Box.
With the addition of Pennsylvania, SweetWater beers will be available in 15 states. SweetWater is the nation’s 18th largest craft brewery, according to the Brewers Association, and sold 192,500 barrels of beer last year, a 33 percent uptick over 2013.
