BOULDER, Colo. — Innovation flows deep within the tap lines at Sanitas Brewing Company as co-founder/brewer Chris Coyne continues to explore previously uncharted territory as the mastermind behind one of Boulder, Colorado’s premier brewing companies.
Now, Coyne and the rest of Sanitas’ brew staff are proud to announce the official release of Sanitas Brewing Company’s first-ever Brut IPA.
“Brut,” a term coined by the French near the turn of the 20th century, is typically reserved for describing an extra dry version of Champagne originally created for wealthy Englishmen at the time.
With the addition of a specific enzyme, Coyne says Sanitas’ Brut IPA replicates a similar dry taste on the palate, paying homage to an age-old tradition but with some added modern flare. This unique take on the traditional India Pale Ale boasts a green melon-like aroma that is sure to leave a lasting impression on even the most seasoned connoisseurs and die-hard IPA enthusiasts.
Upon the initial pour, one immediately takes note of the high level of carbonation emulating a fizzy glass of Champagne only to be followed by subtle notes of succulent honeydew that set the tone for a truly unique experience. Specialty bred Huell Melon hops originating near the Bavarian region of Southeast Germany add to its complexity. Little to no aftertaste coupled with low bitterness make it suitable for an all-day refresher.
Coyne said Sanitas’ Brut IPA, the “driest” beer ever produced by Sanitas Brewing, is the result of a desire to stay on the cutting edge of ever-changing competitive craft beer scene.
“I have never been enamored with the cloying sweetness and thick mouthfeel of the new cadre of IPAs,” Coyne said. “To find a style that brings strong hop aroma and still finishes with a crisp mouth feel is so appealing to me.”
Sanitas’ Brut IPA is available now on draft in limited supply at its taproom location, 3550 Frontier Ave, along with various vendors in the Boulder/Denver area.
