PORTLAND, Ore. — Summer has arrived, and not a moment too soon, as Portland Brewing kicks-off the season with a limited-edition beer made exclusively for the Portland Rose Festival — Bloomin’ Brilliant. The ale’s name is derived from the official rose of the 2017 festival, Blooming Brilliant, a bold and beautiful pink Hybrid Tea, with one large bloom per stem.
This year’s festival theme is ‘Brilliant’ and Portland Brewing’s commemorative ale is no exception. The orange cream ale is full of bright orange and tropical notes from experimental hop 06297.
“Bloomin’ Brilliant features Pale, Carapils, C-20, C-80, and Carared Malts which blend with the Nugget and experimental hops resulting in a crisp summertime treat,” says head brewer Ryan Pappe.
He adds, “The healthy addition of orange peel and vanilla, back up the experimental hop, giving the ale a smooth creamy finish.”
Bloomin’ Brilliant Cream Ale is available from May 26 through June 11 at CityFair along Tom McCall Waterfront Park. This year you can find the Rose Festival official brew at select Fred Meyer and Costco locations in 22 oz. bottles throughout the festival. It will also be available at Portland Brewing’s Taproom, area pubs and restaurants until supplies run out.
ABV: 5.7% | IBU: 40
