Williamsburg, VA — Alewerks newest release is a Belgian-style blonde ale with unexpected additions of pineapple, coconut, a splash of orange and fresh nutmeg. Inspired by the “Painkiller” cocktail, the limited, experimental brew is named Soggy Dollar, after the Caribbean bar widely acknowledged as the originator of the beverage. Soggy Dollar gets its name from the lack of boat dock , requiring patrons to wade in to reach the bar.
With a rare opportunity to play with a completely new idea, Alewerks sought to utilize traditional Trappist yeast to cultivate a mismatch sensation that is somehow compatible. The yeast’s fruity esters enhance the tropical character of the added ingredients; immediately effervescent on the tongue, the first sip gives way to a smooth, full body. Soggy Dollar is remarkably balanced and nuanced, inviting you to unwind and dream of lazy beaches.
Available in limited quantities on tap and in bottles April 15.
