Sazerac-owned BuzzBallz has selected the Reyes Beverage Group as its distributor in California, Illinois, Indiana and South Carolina, the multistate wholesaler announced today.

The Reyes Beer Division continues to wheel and deal. Just one day after revealing a 16 million case deal for Capitol Wright Distributing in Austin, Texas, the largest beer wholesaler in the U.S. announced today an agreement to acquire Paradise Beverage in Hawaii, the company’s 12th market. The transaction is slated to close in early December.

The Reyes Beer Division will enter Texas, its 11th market, with the acquisition of Capitol Wright Distributing LLC. Financial terms were not disclosed but the transaction is expected to close in December.

In an effort “to further align” its distribution relationships in California, Sierra Nevada terminated three wholesalers yesterday: Antioch-based Markstein Sales Co., Imperial-based Alford Distributing and Milpitas-based Bottomley Distributing Co.

The Reyes Beer Division will enter its 10th market later this year with the planned acquisition of DET Distributing in Tennessee.

After a state court largely rejected its claims earlier this year, Seismic Brewing Company has now filed a federal antitrust lawsuit against DBI Beverage, Reyes Holdings and Reyes subsidiary Harbor Distributing, alleging the beer distributor attempted to maintain a monopoly of California’s beer distribution market.

The Reyes Beer Division is adding to its California map with the planned acquisition of Columbia Distributing’s business in Northern California, the companies announced this evening.

Reyes Beer Division CEO Tom Day challenged the notion that competition in California’s beer market has suffered due to his company’s expansion efforts in the Golden State, according to a letter from the leader of the United States’ largest beer wholesaler to the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

Reyes Beer Division’s Gold Coast Beverages has struck a deal to acquire “certain brand distribution rights” from Brown Distributing in West Palm Beach, Florida, according to an internal email seen by Brewbound.

Reyes’ appetite for acquisitions, especially in California, has yet to be satiated. The largest beer wholesaler in the U.S. today announced an agreement to acquire a large share of Classic Beverage’s beer portfolio in Southern California.
