SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Karl Strauss Brewing Company and Pure Project Brewing will re-release collaboration beers Murky Poetry Hazy IPA and Liquid Allusion Murky IPA, respectively, on Thursday, October 31. The two independent, San Diego-based breweries teamed up to revive the collaboration brews from 2020 in the spirit of the 16th annual San Diego Beer Week, which starts Friday, November 1.
The two Hazy IPAs became fan favorites among San Diegans, and their return is only for a limited time. Karl Strauss and Pure Project are longtime members of the San Diego Brewers Guild and local staples of The Capital of Craft™.
Karl Strauss’ Murky Poetry is 6.3 percent alcohol-by-volume (ABV) and has tropical notes of guava and sweet orange that intertwine with a soft, pillowy mouthfeel. Murky Poetry, which was brewed with Amarillo, Citra, Nectaron, and Krush hops, is available on draft and in four packs of 16-oz cans at Karl Strauss’ nine Southern California brewpubs, as well as in bars, restaurants, and retailers across California, Arizona, and Nevada. “Working and brewing alongside the Pure Project team is always a celebration of great San Diego beer, great friends, and great stories,” said Karl Strauss Brewmaster Paul Segura. “Their story inspires us to embrace the Pura Vida spirit, and we are excited to close out our 35th year as a brewery with this collaboration.”
Liquid Allusion Murky IPA (6.5% ABV) features Nelson, Enigma, and Mosaic Cryo hops in a brew bursting with juicy pineapple, mango, and an orange creamsicle finish.
“We’re honored to bring back our collaboration release, Liquid Allusion, with the pioneers of San Diego craft beer,” said Pure Project Co-Founder and Brewer Winslow Sawyer. “Paul and the team at Karl are true masters of their craft. These collaborative IPAs embody the craftmanship and quality that both breweries are passionate about and reflect what makes the San Diego beer scene so special.”
The teams’ collaborative efforts go beyond brewing, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared passion for the local San Diego beer scene.
Murky Poetry marks the second of Karl Strauss’ two San Diego-based collaborations for 2024, preceded by The Godfather Italian Pilsner with Kearny Mesa’s Societe Brewing Company.
