Add Victory Brewing to the growing list of craft breweries now canning their beers.
The brewery earlier this week announced plans to install a canning line in its recently opened Parkesburg, Pa. facility beginning in 2015. Victory’s seasonal Summer Love offering will be the first in its portfolio to be canned, the company said. No further decisions have been made about what other varieties will go into the package, according to a company spokesperson.
Per a statement from Victory, the craft brewery — the nation’s 28th largest — is buying into the trend of canned craft, believing the package will enable it to meet growing consumer demand as well as introduce its products to a larger audience.
“The Parkesburg facility was built with the idea that it would enable us as creative brewers to expand our brand,” said Victory president Bill Covaleski. “A can is fitting for so many outdoor activities.”
Victory opened its 140,000 sq. ft. Parkesburg facility, capable of being scaled to produce more than 500,000 barrels annually, back in February.
The news is the latest in a string of announcements from the company, which detailed plans to expand distribution throughout Nevada last week. At the start of September, Victory announced its plans to open a 13,500 sq. ft. brewpub in Leesburg, Va.
Victory produced 102,973 barrels in 2013, and in February told Brewbound that it anticipates volume growth of at least 10 percent this year.
