Standard Sales Company, based in Odessa, Texas, has announced plans to purchase Falls Distributing Company in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Specific financial terms were not disclosed, and the transaction, which is pending supplier approvals, is expected to close on September 1, according to a press release issued by Standard Sales Company last Friday.
Standard Sales will add 13 counties (along the Texas-Oklahoma border) to its footprint as a result of the acquisition.
Once finalized, Falls Distributing will rebrand as “Standard Sales Company,” the announcement noted.
“We are extremely excited to have an opportunity to purchase Falls Distributing Company whose reputation of quality service is unsurpassed,” Standard Sales president Lanny Layman said via the release. “Our companies share many of the same philosophies and values.”
The two companies also share similar portfolios – both distributors sell products from Anheuser-Busch InBev, Constellation Brands and Bell’s Brewery, among others. Both companies distribute “55 percent or more” of the beer sold in their respective marketplaces, the release noted.
Founded in 1961, Falls Distributing sells a variety of national, regional and local beer, cider, FMB and non-alcoholic beverage products to nearly 400 accounts across a 12,300 sq. mile territory. The wholesaler operates out of a 38,000 sq. ft. warehouse.
“It has been our privilege to be an integral part of the Wichita Falls community for 56 years,” Reno Gustafson, the president of Falls Distributing Company, said via the release. “Standard Sales will bring strong leadership to our community and will carry on the rich traditions Falls Distributing has been a part of since 1961.”
Standard Sales, meanwhile, was founded in 1952 and describes itself as “one of the largest beer wholesalerships in the United States.” The company has seven locations across three states — Texas, Mississippi and Kentucky – and employs more than 500 people.
Standard Sales had previously operated three Colorado distributorships in Littleton, Pueblo and Colorado Springs. In 2015, Anheuser-Busch InBev transferred ownership of its then wholly owned Kentucky distributorships in Louisville and Owensboro for the Colorado outfits.
